The CoolAutomation CoolMaster KNX (CMNKNX2L) connects VRF/VRV systems and compatible splits from all major manufacturers directly to a KNX TP network. It wires to the HVAC communication bus (outdoor or indoor line, depending on brand) and exposes every indoor unit in ETS as group objects: on/off, mode, setpoint, room temperature, fan speed, louvers, error codes and more, with no per-unit interface needed in the ceiling.

Built for high-end residential and small-to-medium commercial projects with up to 32 connected units, it keeps Modbus RTU/IP, BACnet IP/MS-TP and REST API available on the same device, so a KNX system, a BMS and the CoolAutomation cloud apps can share one gateway. Configuration is done in ETS5 or later; the KNX line needs its own KNX power supply.

Key Features

  • Direct KNX TP interface, configured in ETS5 or higher; each datapoint is built from indoor unit address, function and direction
  • Up to 32 connected units (indoor units, CoolPlugs, sensors, fan coils); limits vary by HVAC brand
  • Per-unit group objects: on/off, setpoint, room temperature, cool/heat, HVAC mode, fan speed (value, step, %), louver position, inhibit (window contact), filter alarm, error code and error presence
  • Multi-brand, multi-line: several HVAC lines and brands on one device
  • Also provides Modbus RTU, Modbus IP, BACnet MS/TP, BACnet IP, ASCII and REST API over RS232, RS485 and Ethernet
  • Built-in color touch screen for line setup, unit discovery and local control
  • Dry-contact GPIO for central all-on/all-off triggering (e.g. fire alarm)
  • Optional CoolAutomation cloud apps for remote control and diagnostics (subscription)

Compatible HVAC Systems

VRF/VRV and selected split systems from Daikin (VRV and non-VRV), Mitsubishi Electric (City Multi VRF and splits), Fujitsu, Toshiba, Panasonic, Hitachi, Samsung, LG, Gree (GMV5/6), Midea, Haier, Mitsubishi Heavy, TICA, Blue Star, AUX and Chigo. Maximum indoor units and systems per line depend on the brand (for example Daikin VRV up to 64 indoor units and 10 systems per line). Send us your equipment list and we will confirm compatibility before you order.

Typical Applications

KNX homes and villas with ducted VRF, boutique hotels and serviced apartments, offices and retail where the KNX room controller, presence detector or window contact must drive the air conditioning directly.
